Indian Rock Genesis: Indian music scene has drastically changed in last few years. Cover bands are no more respected in this country and Indian bands original music is now challenging the international scene. IRG is a project by Unseen Underground to Identify the best 12 bands from the country formed in between January 2006 to January2011. The best original song of each 12 bands will be featured in the compilation CD titled Indian Rock Genesis Vol-1. This CD will be marketed in different countries through our international partners. This will be a catalogue of the top 12 Indian bands (Formed in between February 2007 to March 2011 ) and their best songs to the world. This CD will be made available as free digital album after 4 months of its release.
The CD will be launched by End of January in different cities across the country in launch gig titled “Indian Rock Genesis” . Selected bands of the respective cities will play in the launch gig along with an International act ( TBC ). The launch gig venues and cities will be announced after the band selection process.
Band Selection: Total 12 bands will be selected. 6 Rock bands ( any sub genres of Rock , Blues, Jazz & Funk) and 6 metal bands ( any sub genres of metal ). After initial screening 36 bands will be shortlist for public poll in Unseen Underground facebook page based on which the panel of judges will choose the final 12 bands. The name of the judges will be announced soon.
The bands can start sending their entries to irg@unseenunderground.com . The subject of the e-mail should be ( IRG1: band name , City ). The entries should be in the following format.
# Complete profile of the band- Details of the band members, city, year and month of formation of the band, genre & influences, previous performances and achievements. ( Attach review of the band if available ).
#Atleast two original compositions in MP3 format as email attachment ( the two best songs from the band’s discography ).
#Details of the band’s EP or Album,( if any )- theme of the original compositions, lyrics . ( Attach review of the same if available ).
#Myspace / Facebook/ youtube/ last fm / Reverbnation links of the band to be included in the profile.
# Hi resolution photograph of the band ( preferably live performance photo ).
# E-mail id and contact number of all the band members.
Incomplete profiles will not be considered. So please include everything mentioned above and mail us. Personal correspondence from any band after sending entry will not be appreciated, the bands will be contacted via e-mail and telephone by our team members when needed. Last date of submission of entries : 25th November 2011.
Result of 12 selected bands will be announced on 25th December 2011.
Indian Rock Genesis (Compilation CD launch gig) will be from end of December 2011.
Launch gig will happen in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Pondicherry, Sikkim, Shillong & Trivandrum.
